MILWAUKEE, WI – The women’s soccer team were soundly defeated by the #4th ranked team in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), 7-0 on Thursday evening, giving the Crusaders just their second loss in the last five games.

Prior to a 2-1 loss to Concordia last week, Maranatha logged wins over Grace Bible on Saturday, Lincoln Christian (9/28) and Faith Baptist (9/23) by a combined score of 25-0, but found themselves in unchartered water against the offensive-minded Raiders, who rank third in the conference in goals scored (18) and have now won four in a row.

Maranatha’s offense was limited to two shots from midfielders Courtney Dunn (Oshkosh, WI) and Harmony Lorch (Aurora, CO), but faced a total of 28 shots, 15 on net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, MI) made eight saves in the loss, playing all 90 minutes for a 5-4 record.

The Raiders scored three times in the first period, two coming from Sara Travia on an unassisted goal and followed up by a rebound goal after an initial save by Marino at the 22nd minute of the game and tacked on four more goals in the second half from three different players en route to their seventh win of the season.

Maranatha looks for its sixth win against Ohio Christian on Friday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m.
