Dr. Timothy Veenstra – Chair
With a PhD in Biochemistry from University of Windsor (Windsor, ON), 20 years of research experience, more than 350 published works (including 2 books), and eight patents, Dr. Timothy Veenstra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with Maranatha’s science students as the Chair for the Department of Applied Science, beginning in the fall of 2015.
Dr. Marcos Garza-Madrid
Dr. Marcos Garza-Madrid is an MD who spent most of his life in Mexico, earned a doctorate in an engineering specialty, once taught high school biology and college linguistics at the same time, and recently completed a research fellowship at John Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Garza’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed scholarly journals, and he has been active in making numerous scholarly and medical peer presentations. He is fluent in Spanish and English and has experience in scholarly activity and research, both internationally and in the United States. He teaches in the ESL (English as a Second Language) class at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown and assists in translating the services for Spanish speakers.
Dr. Marvin Stephens
Dr. Marvin Stephens spent eleven years teaching at Malone College in Canton, OH (1969-1980) before he became the Vice President and Technical Director of Wadsworth/ALERT Labs, also in Canton (1980-1992). He taught at Fortaleza Academy in Fortaleza, Brazil as a missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions from 1992-1993, and then continued mission work stateside at Editorial Bautista Editorial in Sebring, Florida as a Spanish literature publisher (1993-2008). From 2008 to 2010, Dr. Stephens taught at Clearwater Christian College and began part-time teaching at Maranatha in 2011.rs.
Phil Price taught and coached on the high school level from 1995-2002 and has been a member of the Maranatha faculty since 2002. Mr. Price has had three articles about coaching football published in The Point After II, a magazine produced by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. He has an MAT in Teaching Mathematics from the University of Idaho.
