About Dr. Loggans

“Born and reared in a Baptist preacher’s home, I attended church religiously as a young child. After listening to my father preach, I asked my mother how I could go to heaven. She showed me from God’s Word, and on April 4, 1962, in Burlington, Wisconsin, I accepted Christ as Savior. I later felt God’s call to preach during a challenge given at a youth rally. God confirmed this call to me through Isaiah 61:1, ‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach.'”

“I attended Maranatha, receiving a BA in Bible and Pastoral Theology and an MA in Bible. I was ordained in November of 1982 and have counted Psalm 40:8 as a favorite verse throughout my years in ministry: ‘I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.‘ I have served as the pastor of two churches, as an evangelist, and as a faculty, staff, and administrative member of Maranatha. In 1999, I received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Maranatha. I pastor Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown while teaching at the College on an adjunct basis and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees.”

His wife, Pamela (Barnes) Loggans, also graduated from Maranatha and serves as part-time faculty at the college. “God has blessed us with four wonderful children. Our older son, Dan, and his wife are both graduates of MBU, and our daughter Nicole and her husband are alumni as well. Our daughter Lindsey and her husband, Luke, live in Seattle, where Lindsey is pursuing graduate education. Our younger son, Nathan, [was] a student at Maranatha [and now has graduated] and has been involved with traveling teams, choir, work, and ministries at Calvary Baptist Church. We praise the Lord for the opportunity to serve together as a family.”

Why Dr. Loggans loves teaching at Maranatha

“It is my passionate desire to instill within our students a love for the Lord and an awe that the Lord God omnipotent is willing to use us in His ministry! It is a privilege to serve the Lord! There is no higher calling than that of doing God’s will and following His plans for one’s life! It is a tremendous to teach the young men planning to serve the Lord in pastoral, evangelistic, or mission ministry. The local church is God’s method to carry our His ministry! As we cover so many of the practical day-to-day activities and events of ministry, we are conscious of our total dependence on the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is sufficient for all of our needs and provides direction for local church ministry. There is joy in serving Jesus!”

“My academic passion is to challenge my students to love the Lord, serve Him with all their heart, and continue the life-long process of reading and studying.”
