About Mr. Handyside

David Handyside grew up in Fairport, New York, and attended university after high school where he met his wife, Margaret. They were married in 1969, and they have two children and five granddaughters.

As Director of Field Experiences, Mr. Handyside administrates all of the pre-student teaching and student teaching clinical experience. Mr. Handyside performs 25 to 30 observations each semester, and appropriate faculty, including Mrs. Handyside, do the other needed observations. “It is my responsibility to build relationships with Christian and public schools,” says Mr. Handyside. “I evaluate and grade the student teachers.” He also aids college faculty by observing their classes. These observations are for faculty promotion and professional growth purposes. Mr. Handyside says, “We all learn together.” In addition, Mr. Handyside teaches secondary and middle school teaching methods as well as education seminar for senior education students.

The Handysides attend Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, where Mr. Handyside has served on the school board for Calvary Baptist Christian School, assists with the calling ministry and junior church ministry, and occasionally teaches a Sunday school class.
