Susan Hermes Stephens joined the Maranatha faculty in 2011. She was a member of Maranatha’s English faculty from 1984-89, then taught graduate studies at the University of South Florida from 1989-91 before joining the Clearwater Christian College faculty in 1991. She has taught a wide variety of grammar, literature, composition, writing, and teaching courses. After being hired by Maranatha, she taught in the Academy before joining the University faculty. She has sixteen years of high school teaching experience, and over twenty-nine years of college experience.

Mrs. Stephens married Dr. Marvin Stephens in 2010 and has enjoyed getting to know his three children and seven grandchildren. The Stephens live in Clearwater, Florida for most of each year and stay in Wisconsin to teach at Maranatha usually each fall semester. Although she does not follow any professional or college sports team, she loves watching Maranatha’s student athletes. She claims that she could live on pizza, her favorite food, and she tends to remain attentive to the news while the Olympic Games are being broadcasted. She enjoys writing letters and reading, as well as walking. While the Stephens are in Watertown, they attend Fellowship Baptist Church, where Mrs. Stephens is a part of a ladies’ Bible study. Their home church is Missouri Avenue Baptist Church in Clearwater, Florida.
