About Mrs. Stephens

Susan Hermes Stephens joined the Maranatha faculty for the 2011-12 academic year. She was a member of Maranatha’s English faculty from 1984-89, then taught graduate studies at the University of South Florida from 1989-91 before joining the Clearwater Christian College faculty in 1991. She has taught a wide variety of grammar, literature, composition, writing, and teaching courses.

Her connections to Maranatha reach back to March of 1975, when she spoke in chapel at the urging of Board of Trustees member Dr. David Cummins and College founder Dr. B. Myron Cedarholm. The former nun who converted from Catholicism first shared her story with the students that day. After being hired by Maranatha, she taught in the Academy before joining the University faculty.

Mrs. Stephens married Dr. Marvin Stephens on Dec. 19, 2010. She enjoys Bible teaching, reading, walking, and letter writing.
