Life as we see it

Are you curious about how living organisms work and interact? Whether you anticipate a career in research or medicine, you’ll get a solid grasp of general biology and the opportunity to pursue more specialized training. The biology major’s pre-medical emphasis equips students with the academic and laboratory skills needed to pursue graduate education in biology-related fields such as medicine, sports medicine, physical therapy, and physician’s assistant programs. The biological science program at Maranatha provides a biblical perspective on current issues and great preparation for students who want to make a difference in the world of biology.

"My desire is to show students the benefits and importance of studying how God’s creation works." Dr. Paul Molitor - Faculty

Pick a track

As a biology major you can pick one of two tracks including General and Pre-Medical. Click on each of the links to check out the schedules and opportunities for each.

Our faculty knows biology

Dr. Garza’s thesis was on “one step chemical surface modification of material to improve the productivity of recombinant protein production,” as he stated it. “I don’t know if that is interesting or just confusing,” he added.

Dr. Garza also spent a year and a half as a research fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He worked in the Ophthamology department in the Translational Tissue Engineering Center.
