Birnschein, DanielMusic Department faculty member Daniel Birnschein will be the featured trumpet soloist when the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra performs Nov. 12-13.

The 7:30 p.m. concert at Green Bay West High School’s Ralph Holter Auditorium will be followed the next day by a 2 p.m. matinee performance at Fox Valley Lutheran High School. This will be the first time the Orchestra has undertaken a “mini-tour” away from its home auditorium, the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts at UW-Green Bay. Birnschein has been the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra’s principal trumpet since 2005.

Birnschein was also part of a unique experience Oct. 2, when he played trumpet in a double brass quintet that performed the National Anthem prior to the Green Bay Packers’ 49-23 victory over the Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field.

Birnschein is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance, with a minor in Choral Conducting, at the University of Illinois. He previously earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bob Jones University. He has performed with the Spartanburg Symphony, Anderson Symphony, Sheboygan Symphony, The Prairie Ensemble, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Sinfonia da Camera, and Waukesha Symphony.
