Clayton Morrison was saved as a young boy at his local church (First Portland Baptist Church, Brockon, N.Y.). His family was always active in the church, and, even as a boy, he felt the Lord’s leading into some form of Christian service. God has always blessed and provided Clayton with opportunities to serve Him.
Clayton Morrison has been Maranatha’s head women’s basketball coach since 1993. He has built a solid program that has consistently competed for NCCAA regional and national championships. Coach Morrison’s resume includes numerous regional coach of the year awards, a national coach of the year honor, Maranatha Academy boys head coach for four years, and the assistant coach for the boys team at Maranatha Academy for two years. He coached the Crusader NCCAA national champions teams of 1999 and 2013, as well as the runner-up teams of 2007, 2011, and 2012. “Coach Mo” earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Coaching from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is also the defensive coordinator for the Maranatha football team. Coach Morrison and his family reside in Jefferson, Wisconsin.
My philosophy is to find athletes committed to serving the Lord and who feel the Lord has given a special talent that they can use to minister to opposing team members. Our approach to basketball is to adjust according to the strengths of the individual players God sends our way. I prefer the uptempo/transition game, but like to feature the post position. I always love a good passer.
