MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood Eagles proved why they are the number one team in the Northern Division of the NAC, defeating the Crusaders 75-48 on Tuesday night.
The Eagles entered the game with a 13-3 overall record and 6-1 record in the NAC and didn’t show any signs of letting up.
In the first half, the Crusaders trailed the Eagles 13-11, before Edgewood went on a 17-2 run for a 30-13 lead with 8:36 left in the first half.
The Eagles ended the half shooting 68.2% from the field and 62.5% from beyond the arc. Edgewood never let up in the second period maintaining a 20-point lead for most of the half.
Maranatha improved from three-point range in the second half, shooting 40%.
Coach Ring stated, “Edgewood is a great team that even if we had played a perfect game, they would have been tough to defeat.”
The loss drops the Crusaders to 2-8 overall and 0-6 in the NAC.
Freshman center Brett Cashner finished the night as the lone player in double-digits, at 11 points.
Junior forward Joel Borchardt finished with seven points and five rebounds.
The Crusaders move on to face Marian at home on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m.
