WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Falcons overwhelmed Maranatha with size and shooting, winning 71-45 on Saturday afternoon.
As a team, Concordia shot 46.4% and used a balanced scoring attack, with only one player, Mitchell Schneider in double-digit scoring with 15 points.
A 38-21 Falcon halftime lead, was cut to 43-33 in the second half on a layup by junior forward Joel Borchardt (Watertown, Wis.).
It was all Concordia after that point, opening up as much as a 26-point lead while forcing 20 Crusader turnovers in the game.
Freshman guard Caleb Burch (Eau Claire, Wis.) finished with 10 points and two rebounds, while Borchardt had 10 points with six rebounds.
“Every possession was a battle for us with their size advantage and ability to defend. We have to take advantage of any shot we can get and we didn’t, turning the ball over too many times. Hats off to the Falcons and their season and also Luke Doedens for achieving a big milestone,” Coach Ring stated.
Falcon’s senior guard Luke Doedens (Cedarburg, Wis.) reached the 1,000 point mark in his career, achieving the goal with both Concordia Wisconsin and Winona State.
The Crusaders move on to face Marian University in Fond du Lac on Tuesday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m.
