WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Aurora Spartans continued their dominance in the NAC with an 8-1 win over the Crusaders on Saturday afternoon to improve to 17-0-1, and 12-0-1 in the NAC.
The Spartans’ ball movement proved too much, leading to two quick goals in the opening six minutes of the game, and three more to close the half.
Senior midfielder Jocelyn Enrique (Anahoca, Hawaii) did have an opportunity at 39 minutes, but her shot was turned away by Aurora goalkeeper Amanda Liss (St. Charles, Ill.).
Senior midfielder Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) also had a shot sail wide in the second period, but the Crusaders caught a break on a penalty kick goal by senior defender Alysha Morris (Watertown, Wis.), her second of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished with 12 saves in 90 minutes and had several diving saves near the end of the second period.
Aurora finished with 39 total shots (20 on goal) to drop Maranatha to 6-11, and 3-8 in the NAC.
