Turnovers Plague Crusaders In Loss

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Wisconsin Lutheran and Maranatha met in a showdown of division leaders in the Northern Athletics Conference as the Warriors breezed by the Crusaders, 86-57.

Wisconsin Lutheran scored 23 points off 26 Maranatha turnovers and had 14 second-chance points to Maranatha’s zero.

Maranatha held the deficit to under 10 points for most of the first half and came as close as 17-15 on a jumper by senior guard Hallie Sheley (Rockford, Ill.), but the Warriors maintained a 45-34 halftime lead.
Wisconsin Lutheran opened up an 18-point lead at the beginning of the second period on a possession that saw the Warriors grab three offensive rebounds before putting up a 53-35 lead.

The Crusaders never recovered with Wisconsin Lutheran finishing 9-11 from the free-throw line and holding a 31-18 advantage in bench points.

Freshman forward Stacie Ross (Wyoming, Mich.) led Maranatha with 12 points and six rebounds while chipping in four assists and three blocks.

Senior guard Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while senior center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) amassed six blocks on defense.

Maranatha moves on to face Edgewood in Madison, Wis. at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10.
