WATERTOWN, Wis. – The MSOE Raiders grabbed two victories over the Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon by scores of 10-3 and 6-4.
MSOE jumped on the board 2-0 in the first inning, but Maranatha marched back in the third inning, scoring three runs on four hits.
Junior third baseman Susie Prusak (Leesburg, Va.) had a big double in the inning to score two runs, as she went on to finish 1-3.
The Raiders answered with a four-run fifth inning that effectively ended any comeback hopes, handing Jana Dempsey (2-7) a loss.
Dempsey pitched seven innings, allowing 13 hits and six earned runs.
A sluggish start in game two and good hitting by the Raiders put the ladies in a 5-0 hole.
Sophomore Leila Dineen (Great Valley, N.Y.) put the Crusaders on the board with her Sacrifice RBI in the fifth, one of two runs scored in the inning.
Trailing 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh, junior outfielder Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) tripled and scored on a single by Sadie Joutras (Crest Hill, Ill.).
In the end, Peotter’s run was the only scored, as Maranatha dropped to 6-12 overall.
Sophomore pitcher Rachel Ryan (Nampa, Idaho) pitched seven innings, allowing 11 hits and five earned runs while striking out four.
Peotter finished the game 2-4 and freshman outfielder Emily Thompson (Watertown, Wis.) went 2-2.
