The men’s team capped its season with a second place finish at the NCCAAII National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., while the ladies took fifth place.
William O’Malley, and Lauren Stephens finished second and seventh respectively in NCAAII, while sophomore Michael Kluver finished in 20th place and freshman Kimberly Richerson took 17th place.
O’Malley and Stephens completed their career with times of 26:52.36 and 25:02.80 in the 8,000 and 6,000 meter races, as both were nominated as the team’s most valuable runners. O’Malley was also named NAC First Team All-Conference and NCCAAII All-American while Stephens was named NAC Honorable Mention.
As a team, the ladies had all but two runners set personal records on October 13th at the Private College Championships, and reserved the best for last with all but one runner setting a PR at Nationals.
The men’s team also received strong performances from Michael Kluver, who set a personal record at the Falcon Invite with a time of 29:05.5.
Kluver was consistently the second Crusader to cross the finish line while Jeremy McPhillips also finished with a personal record time of 30:16.96 in the 8,000 meter race.
The cross country team loses seniors Cari Cook, Andrew Domsic, Joshua Pero, Stephens and O’Malley, but looks for continued development for the 2013 season.
