ANKENY, IA – The women’s soccer team posted their second lopsided win of the season, a 7-0 rout over the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles, on Monday afternoon, to improve to 3-3 on the season.
Maranatha recorded an 11-0 thrashing over the Lincoln Red Lions on September 7th, and followed up on Monday against Faith with dominating performances from freshman forward Natascha Vinz (Cheboygan, MI) and sophomore midfielder Harmony Lorch (Aurora, CO), who both finished with two goals apiece.
Lorch was the first to score, as she waited just 56 seconds into the game to give Maranatha a 1-0 lead on an assist from sophomore forward Olivia Doerstling (Lantana, TX), and added her second score at the 17-minute mark.
The Crusader offense peppered Faith’s goalkeeper, Tayler Martinez, with eight shots on goal prior to Lorch’s second score, and finished the day with 28 shots, 20 on goal.
Vinz posted 11 of those shots, 10 on goal, scoring both in the second half, beginning with a goal at the 47 and 57-minute marks to make the score 4-0.
Freshman Emily Hinsenkamp (Harrison TWP, MI) and Courtney Dunn (Oshkosh, WI), along with Doerstling, recorded the team’s other three goals, and sophomore goalkeeper Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, MI) improved her record to 3-3, with her second shutout of the year. Marino posted two saves in 90 minutes of action.
The women’s soccer team is excited about a 3:00 p.m. rematch against Lincoln Christian this Saturday, September 28.
