LINCOLN, IL – The Maranatha Crusaders continued their winning ways on Tuesday evening, handing the Lincoln Red Lions an 8-0 beating, three days after throttling the Rockford Regents, 7-0 at home.
“We played with a lot of energy during the game, and we were able to log good playing time for everyone on the team,” head coach Jeff Pill stated.
Senior forward Mitchell Holley (Watertown, WI) scored just four minutes into the game and six minutes later, junior midfielder Taylor Pill (Watertown, WI) beat the goalkeeper on an assist by freshman forward Wira Wama (Papua New Guinea).
The two reversed on the next goal at the 26th minute as Pill assisted on Wama’s goal. Pill, who would later score at the 29th minute on an assist from sophomore forward Tim Rogers (Willmar, MN), is tied for a team-leading, five goals.
Senior forward Dustin Dolan (Watertown, WI), who was recently named the AD3I Player of the Week, notched his third goal of the season at the 32nd minute to give Maranatha a 4-0 lead, and the team’s last goal before the first half.
One minute after the second period began, Kyler Mowry (Inverness, IL) scored with the assist from sophomore forward Jeremy Knudsen (Charlotte, NC) and two minutes later, Rogers scored an unassisted goal for a 7-0 lead.
Senior forward Jake Palmer (Warner, NH) assisted on the team’s final goal by freshman Marc Suderman (Newton, KS), his first collegiate goal at the 82nd minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Alexander Kornivsky (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomore Charlie Leeds (Fond du lac, WI) shared the shutout as the team looks for continued momentum against Emmaus on Friday, October 11 at 3:00 p.m.
