Crusaders, Alumni Settle for a Draw

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The women’s soccer team began its season with a 2-2 tie against the Alumni in a scrimmage.

The first half remained scoreless, but it was Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) who put the Crusaders up 1-0 at the 55 minute mark.

Four minutes later, Sarah (Pill) Herbert, took a pass from Julie Muse and sent it past the outstretched arms of the keeper to tie the game.

Muse later notched an unassisted goal at the 67 minute mark to push the Alumni ahead, 2-1.

Steinhaus delivered again, tying the game at two apiece with less than 20 minutes to play. Neither team would find the back of the net in a game that ended in a draw.

The Crusaders open the regular season against Grace Bible in Grand Rapids, Mich. On Saturday, September 1 at 1:00 p.m.
