WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Maranatha cross country team took ninth place at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, and senior runner William O’Malley (Rockford, Ill.) finished sixth, while two others set personal records.
O’Malley crossed the finish line at a time of 27:03.6; six seconds shy of his personal record time of 26:57.4, set in 2009.
Junior runner Jeremy McPhillips (Georgetown, Ill.) and freshman Dalton Preston (Grass Lake, Mich.) each set personal record times of 30:20.4, and 37:37.1 respectively.
Sophomore runner Robert Truax (Lexington, S.C.) lowered his time for the third consecutive meet this season, ending the day at 32:27.7, 23 seconds less than his first race at the CUW Falcon Invite on September 15.
For the ladies, senior Lauren Stephens almost duplicated her time from September 15 with a 25:08.5 time, good for a 19th place finish.
Freshman runner Kimberly Richerson (Elmwood, Ill.) continued to perform well, crossing the finish line as the second Maranatha runner with a time of 26:57.6, and a 39th place finish, while senior Cari Cook (Napoleon, Mich.) set her season record at 28:06.0.
The Crusaders race next at the Wisconsin Private Colleges Meet in Beloit, Wis. on Saturday, October 13 at 11:30 a.m.
