Crusaders Pull Away In Second Half Against Alumni

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Maranatha Crusaders defeated the Alumni 28-14 on Saturday afternoon.

In his first start under center, freshman quarterback Brandon McCormick (Edwards, Ill.) connected with sophomore receiver Joe Manion (Watertown, Wis.), giving the Crusaders a 7-0 lead.

The Alumni bounced back with a touchdown pass to Rob Dupre to even the score in the second quarter at seven apiece with 11 minutes remaining before the half.

The Crusaders ran away in the second half, with touchdowns from receivers Jordan DeLay and Mark Brooks, increasing the lead to 28-7.

Alumni Nathan Chromy connected with Rob Dupre again, cutting the deficit to 28-14, but failed to reach the end zone on their final drive.

The Crusaders open the regular season on Saturday, September 1 at 1:00 p.m. against Martin Luther at home.
