Crusaders, Sabres Settle For Tie After Double OT

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Sabres and Crusaders settled on a 1-1 tie after going into double-overtime on Tuesday evening.

Marian forward David Reinke (McFarland, Wis.) notched the first goal at the 20 minute mark, but Maranatha kept pace with several shots.

The Crusaders finally got the equalizer in the second period on a goal by sophomore midfielder Taylor Pill (Watertown, Wis.) at 74 minutes, for his eighth of the season. 

Maranatha had multiple shots from forward Mitchell (Lima, Ohio), and Mitchell Holley (Watertown, Wis.) before the end of regulation.

Marian gave Maranatha a scare in the first overtime, hitting the post on a shot by defender Ramon Sutherland (St. Albans, N.Y.), but the Sabres failed to get past junior goalkeeper Kyle Kutz (Cambridge, Wis.) and the Crusaders.

Kutz finished with five saves in 110 minutes for his first tie of the season.

Marian held a 20-14 advantage in shots and 7-4 advantage in shots on net.

Maranatha moves on to face Aurora at home on Saturday, October 20 at 2:15 p.m.
