WATERTOWN, Wis. – The third rated team in the NAC, Concordia-Wisconsin, defeated Maranatha 59-7 on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons outgained Maranatha in yardage 527-164 and both teams struggled with penalties. The Crusaders hit pay dirt in the second quarter with two minutes on a bullet from senior quarterback Phil Littrell (Valrico, Fla.) to sophomore wide receiver Joel Kobosh (Lake Mills, Wis.) for a 68 yard touchdown.
Littrell finished with 156 yards passing and one touchdown while Kobosh chalked up 91 yards receiving on three receptions for one touchdown. Freshman receiver Jordan DeLay (Davison, Mich.) snagged three passes for 32 yards and made a key catch to keep a drive alive, running over a defender in the process.
NAC leading tackler, Ethan Lane (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with 12 total tackles while Josiah Brendemuehl (Mishicot, Wis.) notched 11 tackles. Junior linebacker Bobby O’Brien (Sauk Centre, Minn.) also assisted the defense with 10 total tackles.
Junior cornerback Brian Puerling was active on defense as well (Salem, Ore.) intercepting a pass in the end zone to halt a Falcon drive.
The football team travels to Aurora, Ill. to face the Spartans of Aurora at 1:00 p.m. Their next home game is on October 22 at 12:00 p.m. for Parent’s Day.
