In their first match, Maranatha mowed through Grace 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-8 and 25-11. Senior outside hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) recorded 22 kills to break the NAC record. DeLozier later broke the 2,000 career kills mark in the championship against Manhattan Christian.
Junior middle blocker Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) finished with 10 kills and two block assists while sophomore setter Emily Thompson (Watertown, Wis.) chipped in 18 assists.
2011 semifinalists, Ozark Christian, were next in line, losing 3-0 to the Crusaders by scores of 25-6, 25-16 and 25-10.
DeLozier and Peterson finished with 18 and 12 kills respectively and sophomore hitter Pam Borchardt (Watertown, Wis.) finished with 10 digs.
In their match against North Central, Maranatha posted set victories of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-19, setting up the championship match against Manhattan Christian.
Maranatha powered their way to 25-17, 25-13 and 25-10 wins over Manhattan, receiving 21 kills and five blocks from DeLozier and 16 kills from Peterson. Senior libero Hallie Nelson (Watertown, Wis.) racked up 23 digs on defense while Thompson had 26 assists.
