WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Maranatha Crusaders finished their last home game of the season by fending off the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in a 3-0 sweep on Friday evening in Watertown, Wis.

Both teams played it close in the first 10 points of set one before a kill by senior outside hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) gave Maranatha its largest lead of the night at 15-11, and finished with a 25-19 victory.

The Warriors put Maranatha to the test in set two, rallying from a 16-13 deficit to tie the game at 18 and taking a 20-18 lead on two straight kills by junior middle blocker Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis.).

Three straight errors flipped the lead back in Maranatha’s favor at 21-20, as the team finished on a 4-1 run, capped by an DeLozier kill that caught the Warriors off guard.

After a 10-10 tie in set three, Maranatha went on a 9-2 run and finished with the 25-18 win.

The defense was solid all night, finishing with 18 blocks, including a six block-assist performance by junior middle blocker Lauren Schulz (Lake Mills, Wis.).

Senior libero Hallie Sheley (Watertown, Wis.) finished with 13 digs, while sophomore setter Emily Thompson (Watertown, Wis.) had 14 assists.

DeLozier notched 22 kills and seven digs as the team improved to 14-3, and 7-3 in the NAC.

The team moves on to face Alverno College tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis.
