WATERTOWN, Wis. – The women’s soccer team opened up NAC play on Thursday afternoon, losing 3-0 to the Benedictine Eagles.

The Eagle’s Maricruz, Zarco posted the first goal for Benedictine at the 17 minute mark and Allison Lambert struck at 32 minutes for a 2-0 lead.

Benedictine received their last goal from Nikki Jhanji at 52 minutes to seal the Crusaders’ fate.

Maranatha was outshot 19-5 in the game and goalkeeper Ginny Martin (Huntingdon, Pa.) had seven saves, but recorded her first loss of the season (1-1).

Maranatha’s Taylor Thompson (Bristol, Wis.) and Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) each had scoring opportunities for the Crusaders.

The team moves on to play Northland on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m.
