WATERTOWN, Wis. – What started as a turnover-infested 13-11 first half lead for Edgewood turned into a 42-32 victory for the Eagles on Thursday night in Watertown.

Each team struggled in the first half to score due to a combined 28 turnovers between both teams.

The first six minutes of the second half yielded nearly as many points as the whole first half, for a 22-21 Maranatha advantage. Edgewood rebounded with a 6-0 spurt at the 10 minute mark, giving them a 27-22 lead.

Free-throw shots by junior forward Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) and center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) evened the score at 27-27, but Edgewood sealed the Crusaders’ fate with a 15-5 run to end the game.

The loss brings the Crusaders to 9-7 overall, and 4-7 in the NAC.

Peterson recorded 11 points, 16 rebounds, six blocks and a steal.

Junior guard Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) had seven points, while Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) finished with four points, eight rebounds and four steals.

The Crusaders will host Rockford College on Saturday, January 28 at home at 6:00 p.m.
