WATERTOWN, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin evened the score with Maranatha, sending the Crusaders to a 71-53 loss on Tuesday evening after suffering a 52-50 loss on December 8 in Mequon, Wis.
Maranatha jumped out to a 7-2 lead, forcing a Falcon’s timeout, but Concordia Wisconsin bounced back, tying the game at nine apiece on free-throws.
The teams went on to tie the game five times in the next five minutes before the Falcons built a 28-18 lead, and clamped down on defense holding the Crusaders to five points for the rest of the half.
Concordia Wisconsin held a 32-23 lead coming out of the break and had 10 points off turnovers while shooting 48% from the field.
In the second half, the Falcons shot 52%, holding double-digit leads as large as 23 points.
Maranatha managed to cut the margin to 11 with just over two minutes on a layup by senior guard Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.).
Peotter led the team with 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals while junior center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks.
The women’s basketball team travels to Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, January 31 to face Moody Bible at 7:00 p.m.
