The NCCAA chooses players to the Offense, Defense and Specialist 1st and 2nd Teams as well as Honorable Mention for all three. Awards are also given for 2013 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to the 2013 Coach of the Year.
This year, Maranatha had two recipients selected to the second team offense and defense. Offensive lineman Gabrael Kluver (Sauk Centre, MN) made the 2nd Team Offense while linebacker Ethan Kennon (Raleigh, N.C.) garnered 2nd Team Defensive Honors.
Kennon led the NCAA DIII in total tackles (158), and tackles per game (15.8) and was one tackle away from leading DIII in solo tackles (76).
Junior receiver Jordan DeLay (Flint, MI) was named Honorable Mention on offense after leading the Crusaders with 778 receiving yards, at 77.8 yards per game. DeLay was the team’s most reliable and consistent route-runner, also hauling in eight touchdown passes.
Defensive Honorable Mention honors went to junior defensive lineman Jordan Dersch, who registered the second-most tackles on the team with 75 total. The junior from Prattville, AL, had 10 tackles for loss, and led the team with four sacks while chipping in a forced fumble in all 10 games played by the team.
