MILWAUKEE, WI—The Maranatha women’s team earned their eighth victory of the season Thursday night, defeating the Blue Angels of Mount Mary on their home court, 77-45. All nine players on the roster scored for the Crusaders, as they never trailed after the first five minutes of the first half.
After a slow start by both teams, the Crusaders finally got things rolling six minutes into the first half, going on a 28-11 run to finish out the first period of play. Maranatha was led by freshman Courtney Dunn (Oshkosh, WI) in the first half, as the guard put up eight points to go along with two steals in fourteen minutes of action.
The Blue Angels fought hard in the second half, receiving thirteen points from freshman forward Taylor Baumgart (Burlington, WI) on 6-6 at the free throw line, but the Crusader attack proved too strong as senior center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, IL) contributed fourteen points on 6-7 shooting to propel Maranatha to a thirty-two point victory.
The Crusaders shot over 45% from the field and over 55% from three-point range to earn their second victory over Mt. Mary this season. Maranatha finished with a tally of four players scoring in double digits, while each of the other six members on the roster contributed three or more points.
Laci Peterson led all players in scoring with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while freshman Courtney Dunn added 4 second half points to finish with 12 and 5 assists.
The Crusaders will conclude their regular season with a match-up against Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m., and can be viewed via live-stream here on the Moody Athletics portal.
