WATERTOWN, Wis. – Marian overpowered the softball team on Saturday afternoon with scores of 8-0 in game one and 19-0 in game two.
Perhaps the biggest loss was that of junior infielder Kristin Morrison (Jefferson, Wis.) who was lost to injury.
Maranatha was outhit 14-5 in game one and watched Marian score four runs in a big third inning.
Sophomore first baseman Rachel Ryan (Nampa, Idaho) and infielder Susie Prusak (Leesburg, Va.) each went 1-3.
Freshman Jana Dempsey (2-6) pitched seven innings, allowing 14 hits, eight runs while striking out three.
The Crusaders were again outhit, this time by an 18-5 margin Marian putting up six runs in the second and eight runs in the fifth to run away with the game.
Junior infielder Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) went 1-2 from the plate, while Prusak and Ryan each had a hit apiece.
Ryan (4-4) pitched five innings for the loss.
Maranatha moves on to face MSOE on Tuesday, April 10 at 3:00 p.m.
