MBU Baseball Players Achieve AD3I All-Independent Status

D3 Independents_clearWATERTOWN, WI – The Association of Division III Independents recently released the 2014 All-Independents Teams, selecting four Maranatha Baptist University baseball players to the All-Independents Second Team.

Sophomore shortstop Tim Rogers posted a .290 batting average and finished third on the team in RBI’s (9), and second in hits (20). Rogers started every game he played, and notched a .889 fielding percentage.

Freshman pitcher Micah Burdett was eighth in the AD3I in strike outs (19), and pitched the most innings in the Association (38.1). Burdett also posted the second-best batting average on the team, with a .310 mark, and finished eighth in the AD3I in slugging percentage (.400) and 11th in RBI’s (14).

Burdett was joined on the mound by freshman pitcher Adam Courtney, who ranked fourth in the AD3I in strikeouts (21) and strikeouts per game (5.91), while also serving as a valuable defensive infielder at first and third base.

Freshman second baseman Caleb Prigge developed into a top-10 player in batting average (.308) and on base percentage (.429) at the leadoff position. Prigge also sported a .931 fielding percentage with just four errors on the season while logging 16 hits and five RBI’s.
