WATERTOWN, WI – The men’s and women’s soccer teams, as well as the volleyball team, each had recipients chosen to the NCCAA DII All-Region Team, and head coaches Regina DeLozier (volleyball) and Jeff Pill (men’s soccer) were named coach of the year in the Midwest Region.
DeLozier led her team to a 21-8 overall record (9-0 vs. NCCAA DII) during the regular season. Her team heads back to the NCCAA DII National Championship Tournament with an At-Large Bid while Pill was instrumental in guiding his team to the Midwest Region Semifinals, in a shootout loss to Northland International.
Pill’s squad, which played perhaps the best soccer in recent years, posted wins over Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference opponents (NACC); Wisconsin Lutheran, and Rockford University, and even controlled the tempo in a pair of 3-1 losses to Edgewood College and Concordia University Chicago.
The men’s soccer team had four recipients selected to the All-Region Team, highlighted by freshman forward Wira Wama (Papua New Guinea), who finished the year with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points.
Freshman forward Natascha Vinz (Cheboygan, MI) was one of four players from the women’s soccer team after totaling 17 goals and six assists for 40 points while Laci Peterson was one of four volleyball recipients after posting 370 kills (4.40/set) on a .355 attack percentage.
Peterson was named Midwest Region Player of the Year while junior setter Emily Thompson and sophomore libero Sam Swiatek (Walled Lake, MI) were named to the All-Tournament team.
