Moody Blanks Crusaders

Box Score

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The 2011 NCCAAII champions proved their #1 status by thumping the Crusaders 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Moody’s Jacob Persson (Sherwood, Ark.) scored 1:30 into the game and midfielder Richard Supe (Edgewood, Ky.) made it 2-0 at the 38th minute.

The second half belonged to Moody on the scoreboard, but Maranatha had multiple scoring opportunities, and showed good speed from many young players, including Mitchell Mellano, Tim Rogers and Marvin Klaudt.

Junior goalkeeper Tyler Holley (Watertown, Wis.) took the loss, allowing five goals, and saving four shots in 78 minutes.

Coach Pill stated, “The score was lopsided, but there was nothing to be ashamed of and we learned a lot about ourselves. For our young guys to get that experience, it’s worth it. Hats off to Moody, who played with great skill and style throughout the game.”

Maranatha faces Kuyper College on Thursday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. in Watertown.
