WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Crusaders first home game ended in favor of Lakeland in a 110-79 loss.
Maranatha was without 6-7 freshman forward Allen Ivey (Greenville, S.C.) and struggled with 19 turnovers, disrupting any rhythm.
Coach Ring stated, “They got very comfortable offensively shooting the ball. We had talked about disrupting their rhythm and we didn’t do that.”
Junior guard Matt Hunter (Pontiac, Ill.) punched in 18 points while Caleb Burch notched 14 points and five rebounds.
“I’m disappointed that we broke down in our basic fundamental defense, but also encouraged that we can improve,” Ring said.
Maranatha had a difficult time containing junior forward Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan, Wis.) who broke the 1,000 point plateau with 36 points.
“It’s not about November 29, but about March and there is plenty of room to improve,” Coach Ring observed.
Maranatha faces off against Grace Bible at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the NCCAA Regional Tip-Off at Grace Bible College.
