DUNBAR, Wis. – The Crusaders finished off UW-Marathon in three sets with scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-11 at the Northland Triangular. Sophomore Laci Peterson (Chilicothe, Ill.) led Maranatha in kills with 18 while Torey DeLozier notched 13 kills and 11 digs.
Junior defensive specialist Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) had 13 digs while sophomore hitter Lauren Schulz (Lake Mills, Wis.) had five block assists.
In their much anticipated NCCAAII matchup with Northland, Maranatha won in four sets. Maranatha jumped to a 1-0 match lead but Northland answered with a 25-18 set two win. Maranatha made sure the next two sets were not like the other as they defeated NIU 25-17 and 25-9 in sets three and four.
Freshman setter Emily Thompson (Watertown, Wis.) led the Crusaders in assists with 34 while junior hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) finished with 27 kills and 15 digs.
The Crusaders travel to Madison Tuesday September 13 at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. to face Edgewood and UW-Platteville at the Edgewood Triangular.
