KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Maranatha advanced to the semifinal match on Saturday only to fall 3-0 to Ozark Christian, ending their National Tournament Championship run.
The Crusaders marched their way through Florida Christian and met resistance in a five-set victory against Lincoln. They moved on to defeat Kentucky Christian in three sets Friday.
Junior hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) finished with 15 kills and six digs while Laci Peterson contributed nine kills and two blocks (one solo).
Junior libero Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) notched 12 digs on defense and freshman setter Emily Thompson tallied 13 assists.
The loss to Ozark concludes a strong 2011 volleyball season in which the Crusaders finished 15-1 in the NCCAA. Maranatha lose seniors Danielle Stegall (Joliet, Ill.) and Stephanee Fouts (New Lenox, Ill.), but look strong with the return of DeLozier and Peterson.
