WATERTOWN, WI – The MSOE Raiders held the Crusader softball team to just one hit, in two games, winning 13-0 in each match, on Friday afternoon, at Brandt Quirk Park in Watertown, WI.
The Raiders, led by Callie Wightman on the mound, held Maranatha to one hit, a single by sophomore shortstop Emily Boogher (York, PA), and scored six runs to open the first inning of game one.
MSOE had 12 hits in 26 at-bats, and watched Wightman strike out five while pitching five complete innings for the no-hitter.
Whightman started game two as well, and finished the day with a 4-1 record, while senior pitcher Rosa Lewis (Yates City, IL) went five innings in the loss.
The Raiders dealt the Crusaders 10 hits in game two, and sophomore pitcher Sam Swiatek (Walled Lake, MI) pitched five complete innings, allowing 10 hits.
The softball team returns to Brandt Quirk Park next Thursday, April 24, at 3:00 p.m. to face the Rockford University Regents.
