AURORA, IL – The Crusader volleyball team traveled to Aurora, IL on Tuesday evening, falling 3-0 to the Aurora Spartans with set scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-19.
Senior middle blocker Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, IL) returned after missing several games to post nine kills and two block assists while sophomore hitter Stacy Reinke (Clintonville, WI) recorded five kills, six digs and two block assists.
Maranatha struggled to develop a consistent rhythm on offense, finishing with just 26 kills and a .022 attack percentage. Junior setter Emily Thompson (Watertown, WI) distributed 16 assists and junior setter Pam Borchardt (Watertown, WI) chipped in seven assists.
On defense, the Crusaders tied the Spartans with eight block assists total and finished with 48 digs, 19 coming from sophomore libero Samantha Swiatek (Walled Lake, MI) while holding the Spartan’s offense to a .149 attack percentage.
With the loss, Maranatha now moves to 8-7 overall and looks forward to the Moody Invitational Tournament this Friday in Chicago, IL, with matches against Indiana University at 6:00 p.m. and Grace University at 8:00 p.m.
