RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Crusaders struggled to keep pace, losing 9-0 to the Dominican University Stars on Saturday afternoon.
Dominican posted a 33-6 advantage in shots, with 18 of those on net. Dominican scored within the first minute of the game and went into the half with a 3-0 lead.
The Stars increased the pressure in the second period, scoring three of their six goals in a span of three minutes.
Senior midfielders Jocelyn Enrique (Anahoca, Hawaii) and Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) each had two shots; with Enrique posting the team’s only shot on net.
Junior goalkeeper Ginny Martin (Huntingdon, Pa.) started the game, allowing one goal and saving one shot while freshman keeper Michala Marino played most of the match, making seven saves.
The team hopes to rebound with a match scheduled for Tuesday, September 25 at home against Ripon College at 4:00 p.m.
