LINCOLN, Ill. – Maranatha pummeled Lincoln with 34 shots, and senior midfielder Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) notched her second hat trick of the season in a 6-0 rout of the Lincoln Red Lions on Saturday afternoon.
Steinhaus scored the first two goals of the game on assists by midfielders Katie Foy (Columbia City, Ind.) and Chantelle Schwenn (Hatfield, Pa.).
Maranatha finished with 19 shots (nine on net) in the first half to Lincoln’s 0. In the second half, Steinhaus added goal three at 52 minutes, and senior midfielder Merriellen Stevens (Watertown, Wis.) boosted the lead to 4-0.
Senior defender Alysha Morris even got in on the action, scoring on a penalty kick at the 83rd minute to conclude the scoring.
Maranatha improved to 6-10 overall, and freshman goalkeeper Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, Mich.) picked up her second win of the season.
Maranatha waits a week to play Aurora University at home on Saturday, October 20 at 12:00 p.m.
