WHEATON, IL – Maranatha posted nine team points, in three different sessions, and opponents, receiving a solid decision win by junior wrestler Ricky Warren (Watertown, WI), who handed Bryce Roberts (Manchester), a loss to the tune of 9-4, at the Wheaton Dual on Saturday.
Warren wrestled in the 149 weight-class, and helped Maranatha post three points against Manchester University. Saturday also witnessed the return of Ricky’s brother, James, who finished with a 12-5 decision loss in the 141 weight-class, against Josh Juarez (Manchester).
For James Warren, it was his first action since last season, as the sophomore from Watertown took losses by fall in his two other competitions, but provided a spark in his match against Juarez.
Jesse Gjefle (Ontario, WI), the team’s 184 wrestler, put up two points in three decision losses, holding Dubuque’s Derek Minch to just eight points, while Dan Kiesling and Oliver Klein each suffered defeats in their three matches, in the 285, and 157 weight-classes.
Maranatha moves forward with anticipation, as they travel to Lakeland College, on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m., in Plymouth, WI.
