WATERTOWN, Wis. – Freshman wrestler James Warren (Watertown, Wis.) posted a 12-5 decision in the 141-weight class while junior Jesse Gjeffle (Ontario, Wis.) came one-point away from sending his match into overtime in the 184-weight class.
Warren was tied-up at five apiece with Eduardo Oriheula entering the third period in the bottom position. He quickly gained an escape and proceeded to notch a takedown followed by three near-fall points for the win.
Gjeffle was down 1-0 entering the last period as well, but recorded an escape to tie the match at one. But as time expired, Eddie Terres secured the riding time advantage of one point for the 2-1 win.
In the 149-weight class, junior Ricky Warren (Watertown, Wis.) found himself down 6-3 in the third period before taking down Marchus McCauley to cut the lead to 6-5. McCauley outlasted Warren though to secure the win for Lakeland, who won the match 41-3.
Junior Oliver Klein (Alexandria, Va.) and Zachary Zimmerman (Owosso, Mich.) lost by fall while freshmen Ben Roohr (Hillsdale, Mich.) took a major decision loss.
