WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Crusaders had more total shots than the Warriors (11-8), but could not capitalize in a 4-1 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors scored four and a half minutes into the game on a header by Maggie Gartner, and added goals two through four before the half.
Maranatha finally caught a break when senior midfielder Jocelyn Enrique (Anahoca, Hawaii) scored on a free kick that slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands.
Enrique had another opportunity that was turned away before the horn sounded, finishing with four shots (two on goal).
Freshman Harmony Lorch (Aurora, Colo.) and senior midfielder Allison Steinhaus (Winston Salem, N.C.) finished with three shots apiece.
Freshman goalkeeper Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, Mich.) had two saves in 90 minutes.
The Crusaders move on to face Lakeland on Tuesday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m.
