WATERTOWN, WI – The Lady Crusaders surged strong out of the gate today against the MBBC alumni and finished with a 3-2 victory over the graduates. Sophomore midfielder Harmony Lorch began the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute assisted by freshman forward Emily Hinsenkamp.
Freshman Natasha Vinz followed with her first goal as a collegiate player, and was assisted by freshman midfielder Courtney Dunn. The Alumni then answered with a goal in the 31st minute by ’09 graduate Julie Muse.
Although youth and current practice was in the favor of this year’s Crusader women’s team, the Alumni fought hard and received a penalty kick early in the second half. 2010 graduate Emily Lawson successfully scored the penalty kick, and the score became a 2-2 tie.
Soon after, however, freshman forward Natasha Vinz scored again, giving the Crusaders a 3-2 lead that would hold until the end of the game.
Coach Board is excited about the effort his team put forth on the field today, and is eagerly anticipating their season opener at Ripon on Friday, September 6th.
