CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio—The Crusaders started off strong against Ohio Christian and finished a 62-46 thrashing of #3 Ohio Christian on Friday night.
Opening the game on a 12-4 run, Maranatha went into halftime with a 34-24 lead.
They widened the margin to 23 with 15 minutes to play in the second half, maintaining a 20-point cushion through most of the period.
Junior Kristin Morrison (Jefferson, Wis.) led the team with 19 points 8 rebounds and three steals.
Forward Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) stood tall on defense with nine blocks and seven rebounds.
Morrison broke the career 1,000 points mark, needing just three points to set the new record. Junior guard Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) finished three points shy of the 1,000 mark also with 13 points.
Maranatha held a 55-40 rebounding edge and held Ohio Christian to 23% shooting from the field.
For the second year in a row, the Crusaders will face Kentucky Christian in the championship game at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Player stats to come.
