Crusaders Cruise To Victory Over Aurora

Box Score

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Kristin Morrison (Jefferson, Wis.) led the Crusaders in a solid shooting performance to defeat the Spartans, 73-58.

The Crusaders started the game by building an 18-3 lead, only to see it diminish to nine points late in the first half off turnovers. They carried a 35-23 lead into halftime.

Morrison and sophomore center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) made sure there was no repeat from the Wisconsin Lutheran game by giving the Crusaders as much as a 23-point lead in the second half.

Though the lead diminished, the Crusaders were able to give playing minutes to reserves Ally Dunn (Reading, Pa.) and Erin Hockman (Morris Plains, N.J.).

Peterson’s presence on defense was felt in the game as she blocked nine shots and came short of a triple-double by five points and a block. She posted five points, 10 rebounds to help keep Maranatha in the lead.

Junior forward Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

The Crusaders play at Lakeland on Monday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m.
