WATERTOWN, Wis. – The women’s soccer team finally broke loose on Friday afternoon, putting an 8-1 thumping on the Rockford Regents.
Senior midfielder Allison Steinhaus was the star, recording her first career hat trick scoring the first two goals of the game.
Goals by midfielders Merriellen Stevens (Watertown, Wis.) and Katie Foy (Columbia City, Ind.) increased the lead to 4-0 at 31 minutes into the game.
Steinhaus later added her third goal of the game for a 6-0 lead and freshman midfielder Chantelle Schwenn (Hatfield, Pa.) finished the onslaught with goal number eight.
Freshman defender Harmony Lorch (Aurora, Colo.) finished with four shots (three on goal) for a goal and an assist.
Freshman netminder Michala Marino (Grand Blanc, Mich.) saved one shot for the win in 90 minutes of action.
