Box Score

WATERTOWN, Wis. – For the first time in team history, Maranatha won its second Northern Athletics Conference game in a row, defeating the Concordia-Chicago Cougars 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

Maranatha caught an early break when the Cougar’s goalkeeper came out to play the ball, but missed, giving sophomore midfielder Marvin Klaudt (Los Mochis, Mexico) an open net goal, for his third in two games.

Sophomore midfielder Taylor Pill (Watertown, Wis.) scored the second goal of the game after taking a 35-yard shot that sailed into the top-right corner of the net at the 32 minute mark.

The rest of the game belonged to junior goalkeeper Kyle Kutz (Cambridge, Wis.), who turned away six shots, including several diving saves to keep the Cougars off the board. Kutz improved to 3-1 overall with the win.

Coach Pill stated, “I think it was good for us to hold onto the win in the second half without playing our best. That was a great game by Kyle Kutz and a spectacular goal by Taylor Pill. I was please that we could play back to back games and get a result.”

The Crusaders hope to make it 3-0 with a match against Marian University on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Fond du lac, Wis.
