Crusaders Thump Cougars

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The afternoon belonged to a balanced Crusader’s attack in a 7-2 thumping of Kuyper on Thursday afternoon.

Maranatha posted 41 shots, 18 on goal, compared to the Cougars’ 8 shots, four on goal. All but three players on the team had at least one shot.

Kuyper’s Matt Peterson scored first, but freshman midfielder Tim Rogers (Willmar, Minn.) found a wide open net at the 12 minute mark on a nice feed from Mitchell Holley (Watertown, Wis.).

Holley scored at the 23 minute mark for a 2-1 lead and goals three and four came a minute apart from Rogers and forward Brian Lundquist (Reading, Mass.) late in the first period.

Five, six and seven came in the second half from Marvin Klaudt, Taylor Pill and Todd Howard.

Junior goalkeeper Tyler Holley (Watertown, Wis.) posted his second win of the season, allowing one goal.

Rogers finished the day just shy of a hat trick and Lundquist posted a goal and two assists.

The Crusaders face Northland on Saturday, September 8 at 1:15 p.m. in Watertown.
