WHEATON, Ill. – Maranatha wrestlers participated in the Pete Wilson Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday, with sophomore wrestler Josiah Brendemuehl (Mishicot, Wis.) notching a victory in the 174 weight class.
Brendemuehl lost his first match by a 6-4 decision against Nicholas Manning of Mt. St. Joseph, and then defeated Mitchell King from Muskingum in a 7-4 decision.
In his other match, he lost a tight 3-2 decision to University of Chicago’s Rylan Hankenson.
In the 184 weight class, sophomore wrestler Jesse Gjefle (Ontario, Wis.) lost by fall in his first match and scored four points in a 15-4 loss.
Freshman wrestler Jordan Dersch (Prattville, Ala.) was defeated by fall in both his matches in the 197 weight class and sophomore Ricky Warren (Ohlman, Ill.) succumbed by fall in two matches as well in the 141 class.
The Crusaders move on to face MSOE at home on Thursday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m.
