Mrs. Carol Ruffin first taught at Maranatha in 1976-1977. After several years teaching at another college, working as a music reference librarian, and in Christian broadcasting, she returned to the Maranatha faculty in 1985. She has had several musical and literary compositions published. Mrs. Ruffin directs many of Maranatha’s plays and musicals, most recently Thief of Hearts, The Music Man, Arsenic and Old Lace, Beauty and the Beast, You Can’t Take It With You, and Seven Keys to Baldpate.
Mrs. Ruffin teaches part-time in both the Department of Humanities and Department of Music.
When asked why she has chosen to teach at Maranatha, Mrs. Ruffin responded, “My desire is to have a positive effect on the next generation.”

Campus Involvement: Director/assistant director of plays and musicals
Family: Carol and her husband, John, have been married since 2004
Community Involvement: Served on the Watertown TV regulatory board; President of the Watertown Euterpe Music Club; performed (singing and storytelling original songs and stories) in six episodes of the cable TV show, “Carol’s Kitchen”

Church Ministry: Carol is the music director at her church and serves as the Nursing Home Ministry Coordinator.
Other activities and interests: writing stories; composing Christian songs and hymns; pressed flower art; had an original true story, “Detained by the CIA,” published in Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Laughter is the Best Medicine, 2020.
